“Racing is more than just competition to me. The alliance between man and machine, the one to one fights on track, the teamwork in the pits – that’s what makes racing my absolute passion.”
Growing up in a small village in the Bernese (CH) mountains, Nico’s competitive spirit was born when he started racing mountain bikes as a young boy. Soon though, he found his passion for Go Karts at the age of 12. From that very moment, he made sure everything in his life was shaped around his love for racing. Besides his school commitments, he used every free hour to look for supporter and partners who allowed him to pursue his racing career.
After successfully completing high school, he had the chance to fully focus on his sport and the realization of his dreams. When he signed a contract to become an official Audi factory driver in 2014, he had achieved his first dream – to become a professional racing driver. In 2016, he became a DTM race winner – beating names like Mattias Ekström, Timo Scheider, Bruno Spengler, Gary Paffet etc… stars he has looked up to ever since he first drove a go kart.
In his young career as a Audi works driver, he has won the prestigious Nürburgring 24h in 2015 and fought for the DTM title in 2019 for the whole season, winning 3 races and standing on the podium 11 times to finish the season as a Vice-Champion.
In 2020, Nico is again starting in the toughest touring car championship in the world together with Audi Sport Team ABT and looking to make another one of his big goals come true – to win the DTM Drivers Championship.
At the same time, the young Swiss is making his debut in the FIA Formula E together with GEOX Dragon Racing. He is looking to establish himself in the fastest growing & extremely competitive form of motorsport.
